To a weak person, failure is disaster, for each failure makes one
more certain that he or she is worthless.

Our generation feels the necessity of escaping from the world our
parents have left us. Drugs - protest - civil and private disobedience -
militant - pacifist - any and all are used to deny and counteract the
hell we now find ourselves in. But please, let us have vision: let us
escape, but let us at the same time insure that we fashion for
our children a world from which they won't need to escape.

Must the teacher of a college course study for his [her] own tests?

cf. Interview with Paul Goodman (FILE: psychosexual identity formation),
by Robert W. Glasgow, Psychology Today, November 1971, p.65:
Goodman: We have criticized the school system to death and I mean
to death. We should concentrate on making a community structure which
is more livable. If you can achieve that, education will take care
of itself.
Glasgow: But how the hell do you do that?
Goodman: Oh, God, don't ask me that. I can imagine these things
but don't ask me how to implement my ideas. I have no political
head at all. . . curse of bigness . . . [see also p.62]
It is vastly important that he believes.
That he is sincere.
That he believes notwithstanding the opinions of others.
That his opinions be, at any given moment, consistent.
That he be aware of what those beliefs are.

When no more people
are left like that,
perhaps we will have
no war, either.

Today is not yesterday.
We ourselves change.
How can our works
and thoughts
if they are always to be the fittest,
continue always the same?
Change indeed is painful,
Yet ever needful.
And if memory has its
force and worth,
So also has hope.
Watch
For we shall someday be men
And we will call a world
Ours
A world of tomorrow
Built on the dreams of yesterday.
